As if Father's Day isn't special enough, every year this is one of the days that our church celebrates Parent & Child Dedication. In case you are unfamiliar with this practice, it is a ceremony where the parents profess to raise their children according to biblical instruction and teach them about the Lord.
For us then, today was extra, extra special as we were one of the families honored to stand before God and promise to do this very thing for Caleb. We didn't have any relatives here today to celebrate with us, but I reflected on the fact that the Body of Christ at our chuch has "adopted" the McCashen Family and they have been so faithful to pray for us and care for us as we have gone through Caleb's adoption process. We are so grateful for our church family! So, it was good to stand before them also and remind them that, although we are NOT perfect parents and Caleb will have to make his own decision someday, it is our prayer that he will have a second adoption into the Christian Faith by accepting Jesus as his Savior. We will certainly do our best to help him understand what that is all about.
And Happy Father's Day to the cool dad of six who was standing on stage holding that little wiggle worm. He's the best!

I love the pictures....it still amazes me how God places families together. That is a great family picture!!
We are glad to be a part of your extended family as you are to our family!
Good looking family! Speaking mostly of the women, of course.
(oh, I kid)
And yes, it IS good to see the whole family, finally all together. Something just kinda nice about that closure.
Just a couple of things...
1. I love the pictures of Caleb
2. When did Emma get so big and grown up looking?
3. That is a wonderful family picture but I was a little shocked and feel slightly dissapointed by the fact that you all aren't matching!
I love you all,
Brandi
