Keystone Co-op

For the past few years we have participated in a home school co-op. It's nice for me to not have to teach some classes that I don't know a lot about and don't really have time to figure out. Except one year I did volunteer to teach a science class. (Temporary insanity.) Now I stick to art and leave science to the smart moms.

Anyway, this Monday was our first day of the fall semester. I thought the front porch in the blinding sunlight was a great place for a picture of my crew.

As it turns out, I was wrong. They look pretty silly.

But, hey - look at those three snappy monogrammed back packs in the middle! Thanks Aunt Lulu and Uncle Art! What a great gift for each of my Back-To-School Birthday Kids.

Among some of the classes my kids are taking are: Economics & American Lit for Grayden, Creative Writing & Clear Reasoning for Emma, American Artists & Problem Solving for Chloe and Science & Gym for Keegan. There are even sweet and patient gals who do pre-school classes for Micah and Caleb to enjoy.

I had volunteered to teach Grayden’s Econ Class, but then I remembered the previously mentioned science class I had taught… I am teaching American Artists, Drawing and Geography. (Which will be more like "Exploring Geography Through Art.")

Hey, now that I think about it I totally could have taught Economics. Exploring Economics Through Art! I think I’ll volunteer to do that one next year. Hey, hey, fellow co-op moms. Sign yer kidz up with me right now! Space will be limited!

Anyway, we are really looking forward to a great year and we’re thankful for all of the talented moms who help to make our co-op a great one. Not to mention all of my fun students. Get out your paint brushes! :)

Love that picture!

And feel fortunate! That wonderful co-op is one thing I haven't found in the Big City. Wish I could be there, teaching science (and avoiding the small tikes). :)

Yea for creative teaching! Mike had a "Physics for Poets" class at Michigan State. For real.
