As the games continued, he told me he didn't think he wanted to participate in T-ball next year, and quite frankly, that would have been fine by me. I'm all about forcing my kids to be on swim team, so I already had plans for him next summer.
But then, after the last game, Coach Matt handed out...TROPHIES! Oh, the joy! Keegan was beside himself. He ran over to me and said, "Mom, what other sports give out trophies?" He was all set to sign himself up for every one of them. I explained that not everyone in T-ball got trophies, but that Coach Matt had just given those special to his team.
No problem. Keegan promptly went to the Lady In Charge Of T-ball and asked her if she could please put him on Coach Matt's team again next year so he could get another one. Thankfully, she's a good friend of mine and her son is Keegan's best bud. So it was only a LITTLE embarrassing.
And that trophy was taken everywhere for the next few days. He showed it to the lady at the ice cream stand, took it to the park and told me to show it to "ANYONE YOU SEE" while he was playing, took it to a 4th of July picnic to show our hosts, took it to the fireworks....
And someday he will pull it out of a box and show it to his wife.
And then she will sneak it into a bag headed for a landfill as soon as she gets a chance.
Not that I know from experience. I'm just sayin.'
Mmmm-Hmmm. Yep.

If *I* was the coach, I'd hand out $10 savings bonds. Just sayin'. :)
Good to see the McC backpack, complete with Matchbox cars. I've got my own going as we head to the park EVERY STINKIN' WEEKDAY.
Those are some cute boys you got there.
Makayla was pretty proud of her trophy too! It was fun to watch those t-ball games with you!
