As we began our first flight, Caleb spent a great deal of time studying the emergency plans. By the time he was done we knew he could handle any situation we might encounter on our journey home. He knew those instructions backwards and forwards. Or should I say, upside down and right side up?
Ok, I know it wasn't very nice to let him put these very sticky stickers all over himself, but hey, even Mom needs something to entertain herself on a 14 hour flight. By the way, he did great ont he flight. Just a few little fussy moments, but nothing that really made me crazy (er).
Yes, it's true. When we got to Chicago, we were informed by our gang at home that our final flight was cancelled. We spent over an hour getting through baggage claim, customs and immigration and then tried desperately to find another flight home. Nada, zilch, zero. Several of our friends offered to drive to Chicago to get us (so sweet), but we finally decided that we couldn't wait in the airport that long.
Besides, we were feeling so fresh after our 14 hour rest.
Knowing Caleb loves to be in the car, and that if we just drove ourselves we could be home four hours sooner, we hopped a bus to the car rental office and off we went. Funny that this boy who was tortured by a simple seatbelt in an airplane didn't utter a peep about the 5-point harness on the car seat. What's up with that? I don't know, but I sure was glad!

Letmetellya, I so feel that pain of customs and immigration and head spinning and international terminal and O'Hare and people and the stress of flight cancellations. BLECH!!! But I am glad you are home, even if I can't be there to greet you. :(
Makes for a good story, that Rent a Car gig. You'll be telling that one for a while.
So glad to hear you made it back home!
Caleb sure looks like a happy li'l fella.
I was so mad that your flight was cancelled! That meant I had to stay home and cook dinner instead of a night out with the girls and greeting our best friends at the airport! UGH! It's all about me you know.
Just kiddin' those things upset me a bit but I was really just feeling so bad for you guys. So glad your home safe and sound.
I am so glad that you guys are back! It was so much fun being there with your family while we waited for you guys. They were bouncing off the walls (Keegan literally) - I would have stayed up til the wee hours for that experience...
