Happy in Hanoi

Hey, well, here we are in Hanoi! Thanks for your prayers and the encouraging notes when we were stuck in HCMC. Oh my. That was a day and a half.

Contrary to popular opinion, we think it is just as nice here as Ho Chi Minh City! It is a little quieter and I think the streets are a little wider and it is just a bit more open spaced. Not to mention the fact that the temperatures are between 70-75 degrees. This has to make it more comfortable for our traveling companions as well, since I don’t sweat and smell like a pig ten minutes after we walk out the door.

One of the gals who is here with our agency adopting her little girl got us a nice hotel room for a very reduced price and we are loving it. She is from California, but she is Vietnamese and she has the connections. When she offered to try and get us a room here with her we said, “You go girl!” They have a great breakfast and the room is very bright and light and close to some good places to eat and shop. Well, what more do I need than to eat and shop?

We are also up on the eighth floor, so we have a nice view of the city. One tiny drawback is that we do not have free internet in our room, so we have to be a little more careful about our blog and email time. Free internet in the raunchy hotel room, but not in the classy joint. Go figure.

By the way, Caleb did very well on his first flight.

Except when he was awake.

We were conveniently scheduled to depart at 2:00 PM, so after he gave us a little grief over the restraints and the flight was on its way, he konked out. I was so glad we didn’t have to deal with a screaming tantrum the full time my sweet baby could get his rest in and feel good when we arrived.

Anyhoo……..our visa appointment is scheduled for Friday morning, we should get our visas Monday at the end of the business day AT THE LATEST and we should be home on time OR EARLY. And it WILL go just like THAT!

Oh, I’m sorry. Did you think I learned my lesson in Ho Chi Min?

A good breakfast buffet is a life saver! And of course you'll be home right on time and everything will go just as planned. That is the nature of international adoption.

Snark snark.

Well something had to go wrong, right? So now that that's out of the way, it will be smooth sailing, right?

So glad you are enjoying this city just as much and that God has placed yet another wonderful person in your path to help make the adoption process smoother. And no, we did not expect this one little glich to keep your scheming self down!
