Uncle Minh

OK, see if you can follow me. When we got Caleb's referral, I got online and got on some Yahoo groups and met a lady named Laura Shipman, who was also adopting through our agency. You remember that she came to see Caleb when she was visiting her daughter. So, Laura "introduced" me by email to Hanh. He had adopted his son from Tam Binh last July and is Vietnamese himself. He has also been a huge blessing to us.
Now, Hanh has a friend named Minh, who is still living in Vietnam. Right here in HCMC, in fact! Hanh asked him to visit Caleb in the orphanage for us and Minh took off work twice and brought gifts for all the children. Minh took photos of Caleb and emailed them to us in the states. Oh, how that lessened the burden of our wait! He is such a sweet man. We were hoping to meet up with Minh while we were here and sure enough, he showed up for our G & R Day! He went with us to the orphanage and took tons of pictures for us, took us to Caleb's room and played with the kids. Then he came with us to the ceremony where he took more pictures and unfortunately, because he was behind the camera so much and I was a bit loopy, I did not get many photos of HIM. Grrr.
Anyway, after all of that chaos, he took us to a nice restaurant where he said the he and Hanh have eaten often and we enjoyed a nice dinner with him. We enjoyed talking with him and learning about his wife and two sons. He was amazed that we had six children. (Quite frankly, *I* am amazed that we have six children.) I asked him if he would like more children and he said that he could not afford it. That made me sad. I am again reminded and humbled at how blessed our family is.
After dinner, Minh accompanied us back to the hotel and took Kyle shopping for bottled water. He was a true Godsend yesterday! What an honor to meet and spend time with him. In Vietnam it is customary for children to call special adults by the title "Uncle" or "Aunt". I guess now Caleb has an Auntie Laura, Uncle Hanh and Uncle Minh.

how sweet! God is so good! He honors us in such ways that we don't deserve. Bring me home a little one, will ya?

So glad you got to meet him and spend time with him.

Also good to see a picture of Kyle wrestling a pair of chopsticks. Maybe THAT'S why he took you to dinner. Entertainment.

God has proven over and over again how much He cares for our biggest and smallest needs and desires, and how precious His little children are in His eyes! It is amazing the way God has plopped such wonderful people into your life and Caleb's at just the right time! Just from hearing you speak of them I know they have been extremely helpful, generous, and kind. And that is how you both are as well! It only makes sense that you would attract people to you that desire to help you! Nothing warms a mothers heart like knowing there are people who love and care for her child!

Uh yeah he has an Auntie Laura - or auntie LU LU, I like that better. I'm so glad you made it safely and he's doing so great! I love his personality already. (except the biting - why do kids do that?) He's cute as a button.
